Skip this if you know how to read TAB’s.
The electric guitar contains six strings regularly. Every string is represented as one line, and a TAB contains six lines. Although reading TAB’s is easy, I will it explain it step by step.
TAB:
E||——-
B||——-
G||——-
D||——-
A||——-
E||——
The number is marking the fret. Please note: the strings are usually not marked with “E,A,D,G,B,E”.
E||———-
B||———-
G||———-
D||———-
A||———-
E||-1-2-3-4-
You read it like a book from left to right.
- Place your index finger unto the first fret on the E string
- Pick down
- Place your middle finger unto the second fret on the same string
- Pick up
- Place your ring finger unto the third fret on the same string
- Pick down
- Place your small finger unto the forth fret on the same string
- Pick up
As I said, it is really simple.
Furthermore there are bend ups, hammer ons, pull downs, tremolo, etcetera — their usage varies.
